Yueh’s work explores the complexity of ceramic objects — the relationship between the form and the space it contains. Their relationships to each other; the curvatures and silhouettes. The imbedded historical influence and the need to break out of it.
Influenced by Eastern traditions as a child, and drawn to Modernist aesthetics while growing up, she likes to challenge traditional ceramic forms, using lines, curves and negative space to construct a visual dialogue. Yueh's current artistic exploration centres on identity, femininity, and the intricate abstract dimensions of the human mind. She employs carefully considered glazing surfaces and visual elements, such as texture, curvature, lines, and negative space, to convey their depth and complexity. Her aim is to cultivate contemplation and connections, inviting viewers to engage with the themes that shape our collective human journey.
Surface quality is a crucial feature in her work. She researches extensively to find appropriate glazes to suit the form.
